After spending some time off the roster, New Balance has called-up the 996 silhouette once again for a crack at the title. Originally released back in 1988, the 996 was an evolution of the recipe which made the 990 and 995 so successful. Compared with earlier versions, the 996 brought ENCAP cushioning to the table — a technology first debuted on the 1300. Although updated, the shoe's lines were still very much in alignment with the classic sneaker visual language of the time.
This faithful reproduction of the OGs doesn't skimp on the details, with the shades of grey and large reflective N as good as they were some 30+ years ago.
